Tommee tippee which teat size

Hi all, We use tommee tippee closer to nature bottles. When do you know its time to move up to size three teats on the bottle? We moved from size one to two when he was eight weeks as he wasn't getting much out of a bottle and so was taking 40 mins to drink mls of ff.

Is this ok? My LO is almost 6 months but quite big for his age. We are in the v early stages of weaning too. Bottle-feeding Tommee tippee leaking. We have the same problem with our 4 week old, and we have to do the same as the OP has said and pull it out of her mouth. Its interesting to see that someone else tried going up a size of teat because thats what we thought would be the logical next step. But saying that, she already ends up wearing most of her milk, but all we can do is try I suppose.

Hey, This does happen with TT teats sometimes. It usually means your baby is sucking to hard on the teat to get the milk out so I would suggest going up a size. Also another thing, there's a little thing on the side of the teat. Near the bit where the plastic is?

Sorry I can't really explain it very well. Thanks for the replies, atleast its not just me with this problem i thought maybe i was feeding him wrong. I used Avent with my son and never had this problem so may just swap him over. In answer to Anonymous. I didn't have this problem with my ds until he was 11 weeks old. I thought maybe he was sucking too hard and needed a bigger teat. I'm glad my presumption was right. Out of interest, do you find that the teat collapses in on itself when feeding?

It might just be that my LO is a guzzler! I had the same problem. Had to keep pulling them out and fixing them.

Also, my LO downing her feed to quickly!! I did try the Anti-Colic bottles but she was still drinking it too quickly. I've actually changed bottles and am now using the MAM bottles; Which work a lot better for her : x. I had the same problem with the teats collapsing, I looked it up on the internet and apparently the little air valve isn't always opened during production, so just check it- squeeze the valve on the inside of the teat and make sure it's open. My daughter suffered from colic, so we now use the anti colic Tommee Tippee bottles, which I have found fab, but had the same problem with these at first that the slit on the little rubber bit at the bottom of the valve isn't always open if you've seen the bottles you'll know what I mean!

The size 2 teats aren't supposed to be used until baby is 3 months old. Join now to personalise.
