We stayed at cabins along the way which local people stocked with firewood, and at the Gite du Mont-Albert, a very European Alpine style of place. The whole trip was unforgettable. I remember the herds of caribou along the upland portions of the trail and the deep snow drifts still remaining in July.
Each night at one of the cabins we would draw water from a nearby pond and start a fire in the cabin to prepare and consume a delicious meal, and the same experience for breakfast.
